Last week when I was packing up to go home for summer, I realized something about my wardrobe. I live in Florida, yet I barely own any shorts, and I have an abundance of jeans.
My short shortage dates back to my senior year, when they decided to enact a very strict dress code. At the time, I didn’t have much of an option, so I resorted to wearing pants year round.
Now that I have a choice, as each day appears to be a bit warmer than the last, I am wishing I had more shorts to wear.
Each pair that I chose for today’s post have caught my eye for one reason or another. As I have expanded my jean collection to include colors, I decided I wanted shorts that varied from the typical jean and khaki styles.
A major trend now and in the upcoming summer is black and white, which coincides with shorts one, three and nine. Each of these also incorporates a variation of a geometric pattern. As I could use more patterns in my wardrobe, and I like how eye catching these three prints are, these three naturally made the list.
Lace is another major trend that I love. Also, as you may have figured out, shades of light blue are my favorite colors.
I chose shorts two, six and eight, as they embody the bright colors of summertime. (Also, as I mentioned in my last post, I have been wanting to add some more of this pink into my wardrobe.) In addition, while I typically steer clear of anything yellow, I can’t seem to get away from wanting to add something to my closet that is this bright shade.
The pink grid shorts by Gap (7) make my list as it incorporates patterns and a hint of color.
Finally, I like how the Zara (5) shorts are embroidered with beading, and are a completely different texture and look than most other shorts I have seen.
How about you, what are your favorite shorts for summer? Let me know in the comments below!
