The fashion designer known for her brightly colored dresses died today, April 7.
Lilly Pulitzer, who’s full name is Lillian Bostwick Phipps Pulitzer Rousseau, died at age 81 in her Palm Beach, Fla., home, according to a report by Palm Beach Daily News.
An announcement of her death was made through the Lilly Pulitzer Facebook page.
She was “surrounded by family and loved ones,” the Facebook page said.
The signature bright designs of Lily Pulitzer all began with a juice stand, the Facebook page said. She decided to design a dress that was comfortable and would hide the juice stains as she worked.
“Lilly was a true original who has brought together generations through her bright and happy mark on the world,” the Facebook page said.
